It’s the hypocrisy. Hollywood has been trashing Trump about his treatment of women, and rightly so. But then they defend Roman Polanski who fled the country when he was going to be tried on raping a 13 year old.
Can you cite your source of Hollywood's defending Polanski's rape please?
He's not really a Hollywood celebrity, he is more of a reality TV celeb like that guy from Duck Dynasty or the cast of Jackass. And the people who voted for him believe those shows aren't scripted & he's going to do a great job. Unfortunately they are also the folks who will end up getting hurt the worst: more taxes, more expensive healthcare, more pollution (cancer hotspots) etc...

I love how Harrison Ford says the academy accepts this award on Roman Polanski's behalf. He could of added, he cannot accept this reward because he is avoiding this country after drugging and raping a 13 year old girl.
Trump may well be a celebrity but he has never been a Hollywood celebrity. Hollywood looks down on him just as his neighbors in New York do. He's always been an outsider. Isn't that what his base likes about him?

He got an Oscar for a film, you claimed they defended his rape or leaving the country, 2 different things. I didn't see the movie so I have no opinion on that. Rapists should be punished but you badly missed the mark here.
