I think that Trump has decided that the healthcare ship is harder to steer than the Edmund Fitzgerald.
I had really hoped he would be willing to take on the insurance companies. In my mind that's the way to solve this debacle. There are plenty of things that can be done but not without going after millions of dollars of insurance companies money.
Ahem... Trump tried many times to REPEAL the program that is boosting health care prices so much (Obmacare).
Congress (whose job it is to pass laws) deliberately blocked his attempts. Remember? Done almost entirely by 48 Democrats who voted NO. Plus a few RINOs. Republicans almost unanimously voted YES.
Want Trump to do exactly what he said? Fine, tell your Democrat senators and representatives to stop blocking him.
Amen. This EO expands choices. ACA is still available for those who wish to be fleeced.

The ACA policies will go away and be replaced by Trumpcare Faux Coverage. Instead of getting fleeced, the policy holders will get reamed ...and reamed good!

ACA is being defunded. By taking away the subsidies for the poor, it is not the ACA. It would be like going to Medicare recipients and telling them they only paid a third of the costs so they only get a third of the benefits. Is that still Medicare? No. We who work and pay taxes are paying two thirds of the costs of Medicare recipients. Why is one demographic getting a black AMEX card for health coverage while the rest get nothing? Because they vote. Those that are younger need to learn that voting is the most important thing they do and 2018 and 2020 are coming up very soon. Did they get health coverage, better cheaper health coverage paid for by the government like Trump promised?
subsidies (welfare) is not health care....nor insurance.....health care is your doctor...which EVERYONE has ACCESS to already
I think you already know that many Americans cannot afford to pay 100% of their own healthcare costs. The subsidies helped many afford to obtain health care coverage, that they couldn't afford otherwise. If the subsidy goes away how will they afford it?
That was just a total gift to the insurance companies. Think those insurance companies were going to pass the savings on to customers? No way. That profit was kept and now Texans have a reduced amount they can sue for regardless of what happened. Surprised Texans haven't challenged this. I'm looking for Trump's broken promises to be made into adds for 2018 and 2020. He has done the opposite of his promises.
I've been wondering the same thing for years. Texas has one of the lowest voter turnouts in the nation. That's a big reason why things never change here.
Terrific. Its been an abomination, leading to billions in insurance industry losses. It was never sustainable w/o artificial propping up..
Propping up like Medicare? Medicare recipients only pay one third of the benefits they receive. That is some major propping up. Why should one demographic be treated differently than all the others? Why should a poor working family lose their healthcare but still be forced to pay for someone else's? Trump promised voters everyone would be covered, have better health plans and the government would pay for it. He has done the opposite.
