really? it seems to me that the democrats have protected the rich more than republicans have, remember TARP? that was a DEMOCRAT operation, as was the theft of TWO automakers with the proceeds going to the unions, and the rightful owners getting pennies on the dollar. and the obamacare subsidies were product of a DEMOCRAT president doing an unconstitutional thing of authorize those subsidies without congressional approval. or how about the $1 billion sent to a number of "green energy" companies, all of which then went bankrupt leaving the taxpayers on the hook for that money. that also was a DEMOCRAT operation. or the $1 trillion stimulus package in 2009, that didnt do anything but pay back obama supporters? once again a DEMOCRAT operation that benefited billionaires and not the middle class or the poor.

sorry but the track record truly speaks for itself. DEMOCRATS are the party of the rich these days.

I thought the Republican party was the party of the middle class, not the rich. And where do those "coastal elites" fit into this system? But I get it... seems like anytime "the rich" are brought up on this forum, what that means really depends on which party they're in.

Rich Republicans = hard working Americans being taken advantage of by gov't
Rich Democrats = out of touch coastal elites who prey on the poor

Gotcha.

Been that way for generations, anyone that claims otherwise is either Ignorant or a Liar.

Right. I don't see how those posting otherwise can deny that fact.

The GOP, needs more rich people voting and the DNC needs a majority of poor people voting.

Are we supposed to thank Trump and Co. for giving us 1.5 million "new" voters? Is your point that only people facing the prospect of sending their children to bed hungry are willing to vote for the evil liberals?

They kicked themselves off food stamps, by increasing their income and value to society.
Obama was putting them on food stamps by the 1000's, monthly.

i would note that every time taxes are cut in this country, the actual tax burden goes UP on the rich, not down. for instance when carter was in office, the top 1% paid about 19% of the taxes collected by the IRS. when reagan cut taxes, the top 1% paid closer to 35% of the taxes collected by the IRS.

the meme that the republicans are the party of the rich is a false one, and has been for quite some time.

There would need to be a lot of rich people to get in and keep the Republicans in power. 20% of the population, pays 95% of all federal taxes. That ain't a lot of rich people.
They would need to create a lot of poor people to keep the democrats in power. If you look at their policies, that is exactly what they do. Make the cost of everything skyrocket so everyone is poor.

So are coal miners and other rust belt folks part of the rich folks voting republican or the poor folks voting democrat? Or maybe.. just maybe your hypothesis is a little too simplistic?

Republicans love destruction for its own sake. Smashing the Alaska Wildlife Refuge, smashing the ancient city of Baghdad, spilling oil all over North Dakota, wrecking Social Security, all these things have a political component, but it is the destruction itself that makes them absolutely adorable to conservatives. Bear in mind this pervasive love of destruction, and many conservative initiatives will become more clear.

And the “base” goes along with it, because many of them have been inculcated with the theory that it is more pleasurable to do someone else harm than to do one’s self good. Given a choice to make, they will always pick the former.
