"We have to save the country". What a fruit basket.

But, apparently, because he's a senior employee and a good player, he was forgiven for his outburst. They happen in all businesses, including orchestras.

While I have no objections to anything Wainwright said, I do believe there's a time and place for everything, and a concert isn't the place for politics unless the concert is obviously presented for political purposes.

The holiday season is not the occasion nor the time for political talk in a concert. Wainwright should have kept his opinions to himself. He was as much a guest as a host in this event.

So I side with the trumpeter. He may not have objected to what was said as much as when it was said. I think he was both trying to look out for his employers and refused to go along with an offense to the audience's sensibilities. If I was in his shoes, I may well have done the same.
You must not know Wainwright and the volumes of his work.

If you're going to a Wainwright show and not expecting to hear something political, you gonna have a bad time.

This is pretty simple.

Apparently Rufus Wainwright is known for making political statements. People who follow him expect that. People who don't will be either pleasantly or unpleasantly surprised.

If and when attendance to his concerts declines, then Wainwright will address or not address his actions, based on how he feels about performing.

For folks incensed by political talk at a concert, take this as a lesson to do a little research in the future about an artist before you spend money to attend his concert.

As for Manny Laureano, that was extremely unprofessional. Worse, Laureano set a poor example for young musicians. Laureano is co-Artistic Director of the Minnesota Youth Symphonies. Within the four youth symphonies, he is the Conductor for the highest level (mostly high school age) symphony. I hear he can be quite a task master. I wonder what his reaction would be if one of those teenagers left in a huff during a performance because they took offense at something that was said.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Where you share them is another story. All of us, the members of this forum vent our opinions here and maybe with close friends. She blurts her ridiculous Facebook slanted views in inappropriate settings.

Can you understand that?

Laureano is the only class in that act. He refused to have this left wingtard embarrass him any more than he already had. That is what MEN used to do.

Name one time a conservative performer ruined a performance or embarrassed his audience with his political leanings. Of course we railed on Obama here, that is what this place is for. No one would be here if they didn't want to see it.

And Obama and that wife of his provided so much material.

I mean did Mark Walberg ever stop a performance to talk about how ignorant and disgusting abortion is? Or how PC and leftist thought is destroying this country? No, he did his job.

I dunno, bud. Ted Nugent only threatened on stage to kill the Obamas. Hank Williams Jr. said something on stage to the effect of Obama being a Muslim who hates the military. Can't remember others, may be more..
