"This wipes out everything that President Trump has done for coal," said Murray, the CEO of Murray Energy, one of America's largest coal companies.

For coal companies, it could be a double-whammy. It would preserve the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) and impose new limits on the interest payments that businesses can write off. Murray Energy estimates that these changes would raise its tax bill by $60 million per year.
It doesn't matter, a lot of Senators vote yes because they know the conference will allow them to make changes.

The auto industry was able to lobby an adjustment for themselves, so we are going right back to the problem where the industries with best lobbyists get the best deals, while the little guys get a kick in the nuts.

Don't worry! The billionaires will make sure their billions in tax breaks "trickle down" to blue-collar America!

Trump is going to end up saving coal like he promised! MAGA!!

The workers who will lose their jobs because of this are the little guys. The middle class who will see higher taxes are the little guys. Maybe the coal industry will be able to lobby themselves a special deal, but my point remains. It should not work like this. The laws should treat everyone the same.

Well I'll agree with you there. But this tax bill doesn't do that in general. It's full of give-aways, because its real agenda is that the Rs need to deliver on something, and the only way they can do that is to fill this bill full of goodies for special snowflakes. Murray's just butt-hurt that he didn't get in on it. Or thinks he didn't get in on it.

BTW, Murray Energy claims to be the largest privately-held coal company in America.

And Murray is also the guy who was fined for threatening to close mines when miners reported unsafe working conditions. "Judge Margaret A. Miller, ruling on the matter before the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission, also will require Murray to pay a $150,000 fine for allegedly “threatening reprisal and mine closure” to those United Mine Workers of America members who filed confidential complaints at the Marshall County Mine, in addition to allegedly interfering with the rights of miners to file such complaints at all five of Murray’s West Virginia operations, including the Ohio County Mine." http://www.theintelligencer.net/news...or-violations/

Murray's no champion of the little guy. There are better people on the planet for you to feel sorry for.
