Putting that $400 million toward infrastructure in our roads and bridges, or a sophisticated smart grid for alternative energy, fixing Flint's water problems, or THE WALL --- all would be better allocations than funding for a left-wing propaganda media.
How would the left feel if their taxes went to help fund FOX news or Breitbart or Rush Limbaugh.......

Taking money from PBS does none of those things. It just kills PBS. US culture is fueled by spite right now, so that's good enough for many.

Well, they still fund the FCC too, a govt agency that controls and censors content on network tv, so they are basically the morality police of network tv....and yet Ive never heard anyone calling for them to be shut down, thats really strange, especially in the times we live in today!
Yeah take way the FCC and we could be seeing nudity and the 'F' bomb on network TV. People won't allow that.
We fund PBS and we fund public libraries for the same reason: spending relatively small sums of public money to provide information and educational materials to everyone is a valuable public service and it lifts society as a whole. The only people who disagree with that are the Ayn Rand disciples who think that being 100% selfish is the highest state of living.
