Ironic that Democrats blamed Republicans for when THEY could not pass a budget and now want to blame Republicans when the other side could not pass a budget... do liberals feel ANY liability at all with their dealings?
Congress must pass something to fund the government by Friday, Dec. 22, or the government runs out of money.
Did you miss the latest update?
The House passed a short-term spending measure Thursday to avert a partial government shutdown at midnight Friday and advanced a separate $81 billion disaster relief bill to aid victims of recent hurricanes and wildfires.
The Senate is expected to vote Thursday evening on the stopgap, which passed the House 231 to 188 and will push back delicate decisions on spending, immigration, health care and national security until Jan. 19.
The Senate is up next, so it's in their ballpark now. My bet is that the stopgap will be approved quickly by the Senate so they can all make it home for their Christmas break.
Of course, that's just kicking the can down the road to the new year.
However, I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that, as usual (regardless of which of the two ruling parties is "in control"), there will be much public finger pointing and name calling while a lot of back room deals are made that don't really benefit most of US, and eventually something more permanent will be passed to keep the machine running.
It really doesn't matter which of two ruling parties is "in control" anymore.
When all is said and done, all both sides really care about is covering their you-know-what's and getting re-elected so it's in neither ruling parties best interests to let things drag out for too long.
Don't get fooled into thinking that either ruling party is better or worse at this then the other. They're just different sides of the same coin when you get right down to it.
I'm betting the Dems will not do that. They saw Ted Cruz' stupid move and big shutdown backfire on him and the whole House GOP bigtime and took a lesson from it.
Unlike the GOP who did not learn from the Dems' mistake of rushing the ACA legislation through without everyone knowing what was in it and cutting out the GOP and then losing Congress at the next election. The GOP all giddy, partying and buttkissing Trump should have paid attention, and are going to learn what the Dems did.
Several Democrats voted for the continuing resolution in the House. In fact....just enough to make sure it passed in case a bunch of Republican voted against it. This whole thread is much ado about nothing.

It is not over.
Republicans will need at least some bipartisan support for the measure in the Senate, as the bill needs 60 votes to pass, and Republicans control just 52 seats there.
The only answer worth pursuing is to vote in more Republicans.
Probably won't happen in The House, but may in The Senate. The Mansion is already stocked up.

lol. Want to bet on who will gain seats in the mid terms?

Won't really matter in the end.
History shows that BOTH of the two ruling parties are perfectly willing to shoot themselves in their proverbial foot while they chase after power.
One shoots off the right foot. The other shoots of the left foot.
Meanwhile, our great country ends up with no feet to stand on, over and over again.
