Don't expect rational discussion. You'll have the AGW types stamping their little feet again and screaming "the science is settled". While being unable to show one climate model that has accurately predicted our weather.
Great lakes freighters are still running so lake Superior is not iced over yet. St.Mary's river is having some issues but is by comparison narrow and shallow.
to see vessel passage check here, plenty of ships still out on the great lakes http://ais.boatnerd.com
We live in sight of Little Traverse Bay on Lake Michigan which also is not iced over. That satellite image isn't of ice its cloud, it clearly shows lines of lake effect snow which has been plentiful here this year in Northern Michigan.
You're a pretty smart guy, I know you can do better than that. C'mon man. You may hate Gore for political reasons, and he may have really PO'd the scientifically illiterate amongst us, but I never took you for being one of them.

Gore is a charlatan. He is the Joel Osteen of the climate scam. He's only in it for the money. Every solution he comes up with is one that taxes the poor to pay for his scheme's.
“You can’t tell much about the climate or where it’s headed by focusing on a particularly frigid day, or season, or year, even,” writes Eoin O’Carroll of the Christian Science Monitor. “It’s all in the long-term trends,” concurs Dr. Gavin Schmidt, a climatologist at NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies.
Quote:
Most scientists agree that we need to differentiate between weather and climate. The NOAA defines climate as the average of weather over at least a 30-year period. So periodic aberrations—like the harsh winter storms ravaging the Southeast and other parts of the country this winter—do not call the science of human-induced global warming into question.
You sound like Trump, and neither of you know the difference between weather and climate.
Apparently taxpayer money spent by the government has reversed climate change from warming to cooling.
"According to the GAO, annual federal climate spending has increased from $4.6 billion in 2003 to $8.8 billion in 2010, amounting to $106.7 billion over that period"
"Data compiled by Joanne Nova at the Science and Policy Institute indicates that the U.S. Government spent more than $32.5 billion on climate studies between 1989 and 2009. This doesn't count about $79 billion more spent for climate change technology research, foreign aid and tax breaks for "green energy.""
Air conditioning is our enemy!
'The Small Business Administration estimates that compliance with such regulations costs the U.S. economy more than $1.75 trillion per year -- about 12%-14% of GDP, and half of the $3.456 trillion Washington is currently spending.'
The scam is the government's claim to reverse climate change.

I'm not a big fan of Al Gore and he has likely done more to alienate low information conservatives who otherwise may not have been so hostile to science (but instead allowed Rush Limbaugh to politicize a scientific issue, Rush being such an expert, and all.)
The "climate scam" is not a "scam" because of one man. Science is science, regardless of who is talking about it. Al Gore is not a scientist, he is a politician. He tried to meld the two in order to bring about foundational change and that was like a collision between a VW bug and a D10 dozer. He was taking on a trillion dollar industry and didn't stand a chance.
But there is good news. The rest of the world is leaving this country behind in the race to develop alternative fuels and it is leaving us looking like what we are, a bunch of dolts (thanks for that Republicans) and eventually the "free market" will force us to join the rest of the civilized world or become a Third World country.
