Which is weird because many of the anti-immigrant posters here at CD say that they are only concerned about the rule of law. However, in this case they applaud Motel 6 for breaking the law.
Privacy laws don't protect anyone from being reported for suspicious activity. Motel 6 chose the route of conveying all info to avoid charges of discrimination.
Remember, that's why the San Bernardino shooters weren't reported for their suspicious activity. The neighbors didn't want to be branded as racists or bigots for reporting them.
Please explain how being Latino and staying in a motel is a suspicious activity.
so you are saying you are fine with a "police state"?
just want to be clear. You are supporting private sector companies disclosing the details of thousands of clients in order to POSSIBLY catch some illegal activity?
OK, so we have established that through your repetition of "see something say something".
Thus you are fine with your doctor, lawyer, housekeeper, supermarket, car dealer, neighbor etc.. simply telling the federal gov everything they know about YOU and YOUR family just cause they feel like you look a bit iffy?

Exactly. Judges already allow "no-knock" warrants which are clearly unconstitutional.

What makes you think that was the suspicious activity? What could easily be suspicious is someone checking in who has no driver's license and no credit card. Wants to pay cash for the room. See what I mean?

Police state? No. But you can't discourage anyone from reporting suspicious activity. The fear of being perceived as racist and bigoted is why the San Bernardino shooters' neighbors didn't report them. How did that work out?
So when Motel 6 conveys all the info so they won't be charged with discrimination, you can't blame them. The left way overplayed the racist card, so now EVERYONE at a Motel 6 gets reported.

bull.
you are openly stating that it is "OK" for a private company to release the details of americans to federal authorities because and i quote you "The left way overplayed the racist card, so now EVERYONE at a Motel 6 gets reported
hmm, seems to me you are showing your support for a fascist state where anyone who has an ethical or political position you don't approve of is "fair game"...
no amount of ground shifting gets you away from this. You are repeatedly stating your support for corporations giving up consumer privacy rights when they "see something".
maybe your doc should disclose everything you have every said or done etc because another client might have illegally crossed a border. where is your line? motels? docs? accountant?
or should we just train kids to 'inform".
