Attached is an article by Ron Brownstein that shows the irony of Trump voters being anti-immigrant. They’re predominantly older voters who are expecting to draw Social Security and Medicare. To keep both programs, we need more young taxpayers. Immigrants account for about 88% of population growth. Without a growing base of workers, the safety net social programs will enter a death spin. We already have a tremendous problem with the cost of entitlement programs. Over the long haul, stopping or vastly curtailing immigration makes it worse.
If they are illegal they can't vote and Hispanics have a history of not showing up to the polls. 48% of eligible Hispanic voters voted in 2016. 30% of those Hispanics that did vote voted for Trump. The Dems are taking Hispanics for granted here thinking they will be solid Dems for life like the Blacks are. https://www.npr.org/2016/12/22/50634...panics-from-20
Your link does not support your claim, they cite two opposing opinions both from exit polls
"According to the official exit poll, Trump performed roughly on par with Republican Mitt Romney, capturing 28 percent of the Latino vote, though that number is up for debate. Most notably, the polling firm Latino Decisions conducted an Election Eve poll that showed only 18 percent of Latinos chose Trump."
Here's an analysis of the claim that Trump got 34% of the Hispanic vote in Texas
The only people who advocate for illegal immigrants are the business who don't want to lose their cheap labor. You people don't give a **** about people's social security or medicaid. If you did, then perhaps you would have done something about it when you were in complete control of the executive and legislative branch. It's clear, both traditional Republicans and Democrats are only defending the interest of business.
Besides, op, isn't automation going to replace many of the unskilled jobs that illegal immigrants are work in? If that is the case why would you want more illegal immigrants when many of those jobs will disappear in the next decade or two?
Lets get this straight, you people want cheap labor in restaurants, nannies, maids, house cleaners, gardening, construction, and so forth. None these do poor Americans benefit significantly. What the Democrats want is cheap labor for these jobs. Without a constant influx of illegal immigrants, then you are force to pay higher hourly rates before you attract Americans to put up being your servant for a few hours.
Spot on.
I will add just one comment. They also want votes.
The LEGAL immigrants ARE. They're angry that they spent so much time and money immigrating LEGALLY when freeloaders are allowed to skip the line.
LOL your party's goal is to curb immigration. However the more drastic anti-immigration voices have implied that legal immigrants might also be deported as well. Because of this, It would much easier to launch a serious campaign to convince American blacks of the need to curb immigration to free up american jobs, than it is to chase some phantom alliance with Hispanics who are unlikely to ever agree to immigration cuts to the extent that the Trump Base wants and needs.

A LEGAL immigrant would only be deported if they violated Federal Law. Do you have a problem with that?
The article I posted didn’t mention legal or illegal at all. It just focused on total numbers. As older workers retire we have fewer native born replacement workers to support them through taxes. The more you restrict immigration, through expulsion of illegals or reductions in legal immigration, the more you reduce the number of workers supporting older workers through taxes.
facts don't back your spin
Overall, the immigrant population in 2015 was older than the U.S.-born population: The median age of immigrants was 43.9 years, compared to 36 years for the native born.
1. fewer than 1 percent of immigrants were under age 5 (compared to 7 percent for the native born)
2. approximately 5 percent were ages 5 to 17 (compared to 19 percent),
so by age...they are NOT backfilling us
29 percent (11.1 million) of the 37.7 million immigrants ages 25 and older had a bachelor's degree or higher, compared to 31 percent of native-born adults..... 29 percent of immigrants lacked a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate, compared to 9 percent of their U.S.-born counterparts.
"Whatever Trump does to restrict immigration, there is no cavalry of white kids coming to fill the jobs the mostly white baby boom is vacating. Non-white young people-reinforced by future immigrants-will drive almost all of the workforce's future growth."
The retiring baby boomers will become more dependent on government services that will be increasingly supported from taxes from younger generations that are far more likely to be non-white, or immigrants or both. The demographic cake for the next 40 years has already been baked. Any changes in policies now will only make slight changes in that outcome.
