There's no FEC violation if Trump was paying a personal check to Cohen as a retainer and Cohen was paying off whatever he paid off.

Your theory is ridiculous.

i'd say the odds are pretty good that we hear of more before month's ( week's? ) end.

Who cares?

Exactly. Why do Americans focus endlessly on the foibles of the rich and powerful? It was the same with Clinton and his womanising. I remember at the time, it just went on, and on, and on, and on. The rest of the world just watched in astonishment.

If Americans really cared, they would never have voted this womanising grifter into office in the first place.

Oh, it's dressed up in, did he use campaign funds, or did he this, or did he that.

Really, it's all just fodder for the talking heads on the telly. Same as Russia - just distraction from what really concerns Americans.

Trump knows this, and has his code words to get folks worked up. All it shows, is the decadence of American politicians, all with their snouts in the trough.

Just a godawful mess.

IF ...

A personal check? From Trump?

Trump is very well known for paying as little as possible, or nothing if he can get away with it. US banks won't deal with him. Six bankruptcies.

And now, out of the ... of his heart he gives Cohen $470,000.

Really now.

Your theory is ridiculous.
His theory is legally succinct, and that’s what matters.

Why doesn't the cult understand it is all about TIMING. The payments began prior to the election in order to discourage negative news. The Timing makes the payments a campaign contribution - either by Cohen (illegal) or Trump (didn't report it).

The payments are illegal - no matter how they are spun.

The constant posts about who cares, it's all on the up and up, would someone please explain to me again, ... are just silly.

Rudy Giuliani knows this is serious business and even though he doesn't have his facts straight, he's he's out trying to sell one tale after another.

Kellyanne's attorney husband George Conway knows this is serious business and said as much.

Me too.

& this is the thing, some folks have long identified his continuous self-dealing & running afoul of the Domestic Emoluments Clause &/or the Presidential Compensation Clause; from an article published in March 2017:

Quote:
ALL KINDS OF accusations have been leveled against President Donald Trump, but few people have questioned his ability to find creative ways to pay himself with other people's money. It's how he managed to extract millions of dollars from his casino in Atlantic City even as it slid into bankruptcy, leaving investors and creditors on the hook. It's how he leveraged the Trump Foundation to use other people's money to make charitable contributions for expenses that went to pay his businesses. And he's brought this approach to the White House.

But there's one big problem: When the money he receives comes from the federal government or state governments and their instrumentalities, it violates the Constitution. ...
