Exactly. Why do Americans focus endlessly on the foibles of the rich and powerful? It was the same with Clinton and his womanising. I remember at the time, it just went on, and on, and on, and on. The rest of the world just watched in astonishment.
If Americans really cared, they would never have voted this womanising grifter into office in the first place.
Oh, it's dressed up in, did he use campaign funds, or did he this, or did he that.
Really, it's all just fodder for the talking heads on the telly. Same as Russia - just distraction from what really concerns Americans.
Trump knows this, and has his code words to get folks worked up. All it shows, is the decadence of American politicians, all with their snouts in the trough.
Why doesn't the cult understand it is all about TIMING. The payments began prior to the election in order to discourage negative news. The Timing makes the payments a campaign contribution - either by Cohen (illegal) or Trump (didn't report it).
The payments are illegal - no matter how they are spun.
& this is the thing, some folks have long identified his continuous self-dealing & running afoul of the Domestic Emoluments Clause &/or the Presidential Compensation Clause; from an article published in March 2017:
