He answers questions from the press on a daily basis.
I was kind of surprised by this thread. Trump has engaged the press directly a lot more than Bush and Obama did. The press used to complain about how closed off the Obama administration was. Within the last couple of weeks, trump let the press stay in the room for an entire meeting with Congress critters. Don't recall that ever happening before.
Trump enjoys sparring with the press. I think he secretly likes when Jim Acosta is there so he can trash him.
Trump tells it like it is which to many who still wish he was a polished up slick politician like Obama was he is a big disappointment so he doesn't talk.
Trump also tends to ramble and he gets off topic which would lead the press to fill in the lines for their stories and as we all know the press is out to get him so the words would not be kind.
I don't blame Trump at all for reducing his face to face time with the media because where they gave Obama a pass on his hiccups and guffaws they would crucify Trump for his.
Why is he so afraid of the press? In my lifetime a President has never done this before. Has he ever given a reason for not doing this?
He has lots of words all good words and some are very BIG words,,,, it’s just that he can’t “keep” his word. He continues to contradict himself and claims he never said this or that.
And to have the “real investigative reporters” from actual “news media” ask him questions could be a BIG problem for him the next day.

You are flat out living in an alternate reality.
Trump has more press conferences, and even gives impromptu pressers, allowing reporters to ask him anything they like, than any president I have ever known.
Obama went from July 2009 until Jan 2010 without one presser. He did one-on-one interviews with carefully selected talk show hosts, but he went months at a time without a press conference that was opened to questions from reporters.
