Also, earlier in the thread, somebody mentioned how workers don't get paid when they go on strike. Furloughed employees are not on strike.

Pay them.

Just like "but, hillary won the popular vote" as if that has any bearing on who wins the election.

There was no disruption of payments, because the length did not extend past a pay period.
It was no different than a holiday weekend.
"Federal government workers, get paid monthly"

I worked for Uncle Sam for 20 years with different agencies and I don't know of ANYBODY who got paid monthly.

"on a salary, not hourly basis."

Again, never saw it.

We were offered time and a half for overtime or could take comp time.

How do you pay someone time and a half if they aren't hourly?

How do you get matching comp time for hours worked if you are salaried?

They ALWAYS HAVE.

Funny I never heard a word of complaint when there was a DEM responsible shutdown during the Clinton admin.

I wonder why NOW some are complaining? HMM!

Actually many qualified for unemployment back in 2013 because it lasted over 2 weeks, then they received back pay for their 2 week vacation.

It would be great if congressmen lost pay when their is a shutdown.

Is it fair to the "essential" workers that the non-essential ones are paid just to stay home? Is it fair to the American taxpayer to pay them for not working? And then they probably can argue they need "overtime" to catch up on the work during the shutdown........

I personally think federal workers who didn't actually work during a shutdown shouldn't get paid.
I don't get paid when I don't work and I don't know why anyone should be.

I know a lot of people who get paid when a big snow storm shuts everything down and they can't get to work.

Agree and private businesses don't take in money when they are closed. I think every day the guv is shut down should be a tax holiday.
