A judge just tentatively sided with Arnold on furloughing state employess 2 fridays per month. Looks like I get next Friday off. Time to tighten (again) the ol' belt.

Better than losing your job entirely, as many in the private sector are experiencing.

True that. Believe me, I'm very grateful. My heart goes out to all of those who have lost their jobs. It could happen to any of us in a heart beat.

Riverside County did that a few years ago.

Then in December 25 percent of county employees were laid off, and its a big county. Getting an extra day to stay home is not such a bad thing in comparison

I don't see how this is going to help. Those living on the edge will now be the next wave of defaulting
credit card loans mortgages and auto loans. How does that help the state?

This won't help the state. It just places a bandage on it for a while but it will not cure the problem. Next year it will be the same. I'm one of the ones who work for the State and will be furloughed 2 days a month. Its even harder when both husband and wife work for the state and then you lose 20% of your income. How are we suppose to help stimulate the economy? Can't do it when that much money is gone from my checkbook!

That must be the same kind of government math that calls a reduction in the proposed budget increase a savage budget cut.

Susie4, it's still 10%, even though it's 10% for each of you.

Example: If you make $2,000 a month, a 10% decrease would leave you with $1,800. If your husband makes $3,000 a month, a 10% decrease would leave him with $2,700. If you combine your original incomes, that's $5,000. If you decrease the total by 10%, you're left with $4,500. If you add the $1,800 and the $2,700 from earlier in this example, that also equals $4,500.

Math was never my strongest point in school, but wow...
