I agree with your points.

Yes they did have a running start.

However, tossing in an entire fix of Russians that required researching and indictments added tons of work.

Imagine how much man power it took to figure out who all these Russians were and to prove to a grand jury you have enough evidence to likely prevail at trial.

Guantanamo Bay for the Russians would keep them warm.

Wonder if Trump will waterboard them.

As Rosenstein, Mueller and company know very well, all of the indicted are Russian citizens that reside in Russia. The prospects of any of them being extradited or of ever seeing the inside of an American courthouse is so close to zero that there is no point trying to measure the difference.

This is just a P.R. ploy. Nothing is going to happen as a result of this.

Also, as you have probably heard, most grand juries are notorious for their lax standards, and are apparently willing to indict "a ham sandwich" if a DA (or special prosecutor) recommends it. In this case, it is very doubtful that the charges would succeed if the alleged perpetrators did appear, as they are not based on solidly established law.

This really is some remarkably weak sauce these guys are serving up at this point.

Anyway, back to Gates flipping and working out a plea deal.

Rick Gates, who Ed Brayton on Pathos describes as Robin to Manafort's Batman, had what criminal lawyers call a "Queen for a Day" interview, an interview in which he answered all the prosecutors' questions including about his own case as well as any criminal activity he witnessed.

As he outlasted Manafort, traveling with Trump through the campaign and staying on through the inauguration, that could cover a lot of territory.

He reportedly spent a lot of time in the WH after the inauguration. Wonder what info he has for Mueller?

Bannon spent 20 hours with Mueller's team this week as well.
I don't trust any of that Mueller bunch. I hope they get what is coming to them. Can you really trust testimony from someone who has made a deal? I say "NO."

Yes, you can. Defendants enter into plea deals all the time in exchange for testimony as cooperative witnesses. There’s no need to make these ignorant statements about our criminal justice system simply because you dislike the outcome from the investigation. #Triggered

The fact that he did stay on indeed makes Gates a very troubling witness. This could account for conservative calls to pardon him and the other cohorts.

I have a real problem with pardons given life long criminals like Manafort and Gates.

They have escaped taxation and have hidden wealth around the world. Just because they got involved in politics and know too much about what Trump did is no justification to pardon them.

If Flynn was an honorable man, then he may be the exception, however Flynn brought dishonor upon the US Military by directly violating requirements he was reminded of in writing.

In addition to being Manafort's right hand man, Gates was also a fund raiser for the RNC (also see: money laundering) and a member of the Trump Inauguration Committee.

Yessiree> But much of these cases may be not just Federal of STATES that "$$" was laundered.. which means.. DJT cannot pardon!!!!

... and Trump's tax returns: if it is found Trump had substantial unreported under-the-table money from Russia, he could be wide open to tax evasion charges.
DJT Tax returns are already available to Mueller's Investigation and no doubt Kushner's, Manaforts, Flynn's, Gates, Papodopolous's.. It's a given the Special Council already has that info!!
