People have been taught to think the Militia is the last stand. Far from it!!!!!
The Militia are the Minute Men(and women)
We the people of all ages, color and creed, are the first line of defense until reinforcements can arrive.
If they make it past our military might, the militia will be a gnat to deal with.
If beer-bellied, fat assed, camouflage-wearing, teeth missing, tattoo ladened, emotionally stunted, intellectually challenged losers are our last line of defense, we might as well waive the white flag of surrender now.
I am adding this addition based on subsequent comments, I am referring to so-called private militias and NOT the National Guard.

In the United States, the "Unorganized Militia", by law is "all able bodied males between the ages of 17 and 45" who are not in the organized militia. It is also a self-description of several local militia organizations in the U.S. See Section 311 of US Code Title 10. Also see the Militia Act of 1792 and the Militia Act of 1903.
Notice it mentions the organized militia which today is our National Guard, a part of the FEDERAL armed forces, and not the militia.

The US has a strong enough military as it is and no country is either capable of invading the US.
Unless UFO's come out of the sky I don't think the US has anything to worry about.
Although on seeing the NRA and Militias, Aliens would indeed turn back to their own planet having concluded that there is no intelligence life on earth.

An "ACT" cannot redefine the constitution's defining words.........
The constitution declares the people as the militia. It does not stipulate when a person becomes a person. nor when people are no longer people.
Even commissioned Military are part of the militia, until they can get to their unit.

The militia would be the first line to form to combat the invasion of Mexican and central American illegal aliens flooding across our southern border, until military reinforcements could arrive. The militia was castrated after the Civil War.
It could happen again where a quickly gathered militia is needed.
This happened during the war of 1812 but in a town near me a British ship was holding the Cape hostage and threatening to come ashore and destroy the salt works etc.. unless a ransom was paid. One town refused, the British landed to make good on their threats and were met with the militia of the town that fought them off while others got to their ship and damaged it. It was really amazing that a group of average townfolk were able to stand up to the British Navy that day.
Ok that was 200 years ago but who is to say that it cold not be possible for something like this to happen again with different enemies be they terrorists or misguided roving gangs moving under the flag of ANTIFA bent on destruction?
What about a drug cartel moving across the border or a MS13 gang running amok in a town?
Of course the Second Amendment was penned to guard against threats from within.
