If you disagree with the literal, face-value meaning of these lyrics, then that implies you think some things are more important than freedom --- at 0:10-0:20, and 0:50-0:55 in particular. plus 1:37.
ADDED: This "freedom above all else" (few to no laws and regulations beyond what you see in Westerns) may be appropriate for wide swaths of land with less than 2 people per square mile; but try that today, this nation would quickly degenerate into Afghanistan or Somalia or Syria.

I watched the NRA speech today. Typical rhetoric thought it wasn't particularly bad. I shouldn't be surprised that now Trump seems to be adopting the NRA plan as it were to make schools 'hard targets'.
Everyone should be able to carry muskets just as the founders intended. Why an AR-15 and not a rocket launcher or grenade?
When did the 2nd Amendment include semi-automatic rifles but not machine guns?
Clearly the first amendment only applies to quill pens and hand operated printing presses.
He said having guns is a GOD given right, and people who ask for gun laws want to take away ALL freedoms.
Makes you wonder , seeing as how guns were invented by 15th century Muslims.
