It's ridiculous that someone can sign up to defend our Country at 18, where we give them a select fire weapon, but not defend themselves with a rifle at the same age.
Do you think we should raise the age of enlistment to 21?
This difficulty to predict just who is mentally unstable is a huge part of the point. Science and/or popular culture simply doesn't have adequate understandings of who is mentally unstable to simply sell a gun to any 21-or-over. And in any case, we don't have the technology to perform the detailed brain scans and memory scans necessary to determine if a person is unstable enough to own a gun. Maybe by the 2050s we'll get that technology, but until then that's a useless tangent to argue about.
In this day and age, with high population densities and large numbers of people, plus the kill power of weapons, even a low frequency of mentally ill people combined with the kill power of these weapons makes for a high severity event when the event does occur. That's the story of the past 10,000 and especially 200 years - the higher our level of technology gets, the more damage one person can do. There's a price for living in a technology-based society, more and proper rules to keep huge agonies and destruction from occurring.
Should that same 4 year old with a loaded gun be allowed to vote?
The US Constitution stated in Amendment XV, which was ratified by the states in 1870:
"Section 1. The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.
Section 2. The Congress shall have the power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation."
Look at Amendment XXVI:
The right of citizens of the United States, who are 18 years of age or older, to vote, shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any state on account of age.
If you want to put age restrictions on the 2nd Amendment (as there currently aren't any), legally, that's how you would have to do it, by Constitutional Amendment.
Do you think we should raise the age of enlistment to 21?
Raise age of enlistment to 21, raise age to enter a legal binding contract (no college loans until 21), raise age to vote to 21, raise the age to get an attorney to 21, raise the age to exercise every constitutional amendment to 21.
The right of citizens of the United States, who are 18 years of age or older, to vote, shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any state on account of age.

And your point. If the NRA is blocking this law, they will fight any act of Congress add state legislature.
if you doubt that's what happened, listen to Broward officials say it in their own words. Watch the entire video, but the gist of the program begins at 1:15...

Ratifying a Constitutional Amendment requires both federal and state participation. If there's a will to put age restrictions on the 2nd Amendment, as is done with voting (another Constitutional Right), that's legally what has to be done.

I don't like your source, it leans to the right.
Uhh... The fact remains, the content in that source is true.
We want common sense reform, and comprehensive background checks!
