The 'Omnibus' bill is working its way through congress. There is a group of [believe it or not] Republicans trying to insert language into the bill that would allow the collection of sales taxes on out of state purchases. No committee hearings, they are just trying to sneak it in the bill.
Not hard to believe, the Grand Ole Party of plunder loves taxes as much as its counterpart the Dems. And said internet taxes are really just an extension of Trumps consumer punishing tariffs on imports , just done on a local level.

Welcome to the USA. Where have you been for the last 200 years?
Although I don't like it - since so much purchasing is being done over the net instead of B&M stores - what did you really expect? Whether a Dem or a Rep was in office - the gov't wants their tax dollars - this is one case where it's not political.
Actually the dems should be rallying behind this as then everyone pays for a piece of the pie. Right now - only their constituents without internet access that are being forced to buy at a B&M are being taxed and that's so wrong right??????
I also hear that Colorado has a new line item on their state tax forms this year stating, in effect, "List all online purchases made where you did not pay sales tax" and then adds that to your amount due. Not entering all information is tax avoidance and Newegg, among others, are turning this information over already.
Dems and Republicans have no problem putting tariffs on the public. They only complain when Trump puts them on other countries.
Taxes = tariffs on internal trade deals.
Next they will claim cost went up because of Trump's tariffs and fail to mention the increase in prices they cause with domestic taxes.
