She represents who she represents. My democratic representives own guns just like I do and they would never think to take them away as a policy. That's why Diane had to acknowledge she'll never have the votes.

And the "they're gonna take our guns away" fantasy evaporates in a puff of paranoid delusional right wing smoke.

She didnt acknowledge she would never have the votes. She did acknowledge that she didnt have the votes that day, and she really wanted a total "Turn 'em in" type ban on all guns.

The further left that the Dems keep oozing, the more they will be emboldened to speak their heart on this, and do exactly what Feinstein tried.

Which country would that be?

Only law-abiding people do. Here and there.

Even here, every fully auto firearm I've seen or shot has been legal. The punks that have weapons have ones that are legal too. At the store legal, not necessarily to have in their possession although often they're legal in possession too. That's not the case in countries where firearm ownership is more highly regulated. I don't suggest it would 100% effective but it would be some % effective as evidenced by the lack of machine guns floating around.

A ban on private firearms is only going to result in the deaths of most public servants (basically all cops, anyone in uniform or wearing official insignia, driving government vehicles, most elected officials, many flunkies) and a lot of other "civilians"....

These stupid kids don't understand what they are doing is being aggressive towards others...its the best way to get killed that I can think of.

I also have this question. I can't think of any country with more individual freedom than the US....most of Europe is slightly fascist with confiscatory levels of taxation, so automatic fail of this metric right there. Asia is basically one big craphole of anti-individual governments that blatantly disregard human rights and/or have poor standards of living, so automatic fail there. Africa is a total craphole with not one country that most people are actually safe in AND have any kind of economic opportunity or freedom to excel, so what are we left with for this mythical more free disarmed utopia?

I wonder how long it will take someone to invoke some socialist Scandinavian cradle-to-grave welfare state as the answer to this?

Quick note - just don't waste your time.

If Liberals would have it their way, they would want all guns banned. But in reality, its just utopian pipe dream; puppy dogs, rainbows and lollipops.
