Isn't it funny though, the left, Black Lives Matter and the MSM will point fingers at the cop who kills an unarmed person instead of blaming it on the gun, their suggestions were not to disarm the police, or get rid of them, but to just have cameras on the officers. Too bad they can't show the same rational thought with mass school shootings and realize that gun free zones are just inviting the inevitable.
Well, look at whenever a cop shoots an unarmed person or kills someone by mistake, everyone always says that we cannot judge ALL cops based on the behavior of a small percentage, but when its a civilian mass shooting, ALL gunowners are blamed to some degree....where is the logic in that?!!!
Castille was practicing his 2nd Amendment right to bear arm. Legally.
The NRA, alt right, mainstream conservatives, and everybody else on the right remained silent.
Did the 2nd Amendment not apply to him?
It was a misunderstanding and both parties were at fault. It had little to do with the right itself. Castile, was told to not reach for it, he then said " I'm going to have to."
You can only write what you write if you're not familiar with the research showing implicit biases exhibited by officers when dealing with people of color vs. other racial backgrounds. Even by officers who are also black.
It is very illuminating, and gets at the core of why so many of these escalations occur.
These biases are real, and manifest them in real ways. It is OK to admit what the data is showing.
Sure - of course people should listen to the directions of a cop. But it's not just about that. And the chances of being shot as a black man who "isn't listening" is much higher than that of a white person.
Yes cops are biased against blacks. But they are also more apt to be shot by blacks.
What were the facts in the case? I wasn't there, and neither were you.
This isn't the Treyvon Martin case, where there was a witness who testified that he observed Martin slamming Zimmermans head onto the ground (or cement ...don't remember which it was), and pounding him with his fists "MMA style." When Zimmerman tried to get his gun, Martin tried (unsuccessfully) to take it from him. He would have used it on Zimmerman, had Zimmerman not been able to get to it first.
In the Michael Brown case, there were a lot of lies told, that were later disproven. "Hands up, don't shoot," was a lie.
Why would this guy have been going for his I.D. (as is alleged) before the officer asked him for it? That was just plain stupid, if true.
You do know that more whites are shot by cops than blacks... right?
Of all police killings 22% were black, 40% were white. There are skewed results from some research which make claims that blacks are 3x more likely to be killed by a cop. Problem is that they leave out that blacks commit 3x more violent crimes.
The analysis
It’s true that around 13 per cent of Americans are black, according to the latest estimates from the US Census Bureau.
And yes, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, black offenders committed 52 per cent of homicides recorded in the data between 1980 and 2008. Only 45 per cent of the offenders were white. Homicide is a broader category than “murder” but let’s not split hairs.
So they may be 3x more likely to be killed by a cop, they are also up to 5x more likely to be involved in a violent crime. Based on the facts they are actually less likely to be killed by a cop.

There wasn't a witness? His girlfriend recorded the aftermath in the car.
The NRA is not good at nuances - they tend to see everything in black and white.
Literally.
