We pull out of Syria, and the Russians, Syrian, and Turkish military will obliterate them.
They've been our partners in the fight against ISIS. They are being attacked by Turkey at this very moment. With US weapons no less.
Makes me sick to think that we are going to sell them out again.
Sounds familiar. If we pull out of South Vietnam, the North Vietnamese will obliterate them. Fast forward 40 years and 50,000 lives and I am buying made in Vietnam shirts at Macys. I am sure they would have sold us shirts without a war.
Obama was a massive threat to the Kurds by dropping free weapons all over the most unstable region on earth - to Muslims who want to kill Kurds. It was a dictator like Assad that offered some form of religious and ethnic freedom - certainly not whoever would take hold after his undoing.
Now we are supposedly abandoning the Kurds if we don't keep our intervention that Obama started...which mostly amounts to arming terrorists that want to kill Kurds...and us... Unreal.
Looks like yet another example where he just felt like saying something to keep his audience entertained, so he announced a foreign policy decision out of thin air.
And I believe his speech was supposed to be about infrastructure. Yes, another never ending infrastructure week, and he always get off track to ramble on about something else.
I agree about Afghanistan, but Iraq? You gotta be kidding me!
It looks now to be the wrong call but everyone and I mean everyone thought Saddam had his weapons of mass destruction which he easily could have sold or given to terrorists
Honestly....that's not my problem, your problem, or anyone else's. Why do our troops need to be involved in this mess any longer? After 9-11 I supported going into both Afghanistan and Iraq because our interests were at stake. Someone please tell me how the Syrian civil war affects us !!! There is no upside whatsoever be in there.
We had no interests in either places. We were lied to. Being that it's been 16 years and we have accomplished nothing should have made that obvious by now.

Should we have went after OBL? Sure, but even at that, he did nothing we would have not done ourselves. OBL quickly left Afghanistan but 16 years later, we are still there. We didn't attack Pakistan even though we knew that is where OBL was.
