For decades genetic researchers have sought the hereditary factors behind intelligence, with little luck. But now gene studies have finally gotten big enough—and hence powerful enough—to zero in on genetic differences linked to IQ.
A year ago, no gene had ever been tied to performance on an IQ test. Since then, more than 500 have, thanks to gene studies involving more than 200,000 test takers. Results from an experiment correlating one million people’s DNA with their academic success are due at any time.
The discoveries mean we can now read the DNA of a young child and get a notion of how intelligent he or she will be, says Plomin, an American based at King’s College London, where he leads a long-term study of 13,000 pairs of British twins. https://www.technologyreview.com/s/6...t-to-take-one/
I've read this report and will note I am a member of DNA Land so have had my DNA compared to the genes discovered via the European study (DNA Land also has information about this study on their website).
The results only say "possible evidence of increased intelligence"
They also do not provide any sort of guarantee and the article in your link says:

As of now, the predictions are not highly accurate. The DNA variations that have been linked to test scores explain less than 10 percent of the intelligence differences between the people of European ancestry who’ve been studied.

All of them admit the above.
right. this sort of testing is still in the embryonic stage.
still, going from zero IQ-associated genes to more than 500 in one year is explosive progress.
When they say "no gene was linked to intelligence," I think what they mean is that "no gene was proven to be linked to intelligence." A simple google search will show you that scientists have knows for a long time that intelligence is 40%-60% genetic.
Which of course means that it is 40%-60% environment or epigenetic. The idea that intelligence is absolutely fixed by DNA is comparably incorrect as saying that it has nothing to do with DNA.
It is good that this is coming out though. Certain people in this country think that we should have absolute equality of outcome, and it is not possible. There are always going to be very intelligent people of every race, and those that are not so much. By concentrating on what we can control, things will improve for everyone. But the idea that there are not average mean differences between any two populations in anything is absurd.

I don't agree with the bold. There are very few people who hold this sort of view.
Honestly it seems that any time the word "equal" is brought up that certain people on the right side of the political spectrum automatically believe that it is in reference to "outcomes" when usually it is in reference to "opportunities" not "outcomes."
There is a difference. And since I have evidence of increased intelligence according to my genes, I guess everyone else should believe what I say lol (just kidding BTW).
That presents liberals with a real dilemma. Continue to populate the base or eliminate the intelligent before birth. Most conservative will continue to welcome life, like they do now.
