Make America Great Again!

kim jong un has announced north korea will suspend all missile tests and plans to close the site where its six previous nuclear tests were conducted ahead of landmark talks with donald trump.

The us-north korea meeting is scheduled for may or june, and although no location has been decided plans are continuing apace, with cia director mike pompeo flying to pyongyang for talks with kim over the easter weekend.

South korean president moon jae-in is also due to meet the dictator on april 27 at a border truce village for a rare summit focused on nuclear issues.

President trump heralded friday's announcement, tweeting: 'north korea has agreed to suspend all nuclear tests and close up a major test site. This is very good news for north korea and the world - big progress! Look forward to our summit.'

the decision was made in a meeting of the ruling party's full central committee which had convened to discuss a 'new stage' of policies.

'as the weaponization of nuclear weapons has been verified, it is not necessary for us to conduct any more nuclear tests or test launches of mid- and long range missiles or icbms,' kim told the assembled party cadres. He then added: 'the northern nuclear test site has completed its mission.'

kim's latest comments echoed those he made in a new year's speech, in which he claimed the development of the state nuclear force had been completed.

His followed a test in november during which the north claimed to have launched nuclear tipped intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of reaching the mainland united states.

This achievement, completely unverified by outside authorities, was the stated aim of north korea's nuclear programme and explains kim's reference to already have secured the 'weaponization or nuclear weapons' [sic] in his comments on friday.

South korean envoys have previously cited kim as promising no more tests, but the recent news is the first such announcement directly by pyongyang.

The party decided that nuclear and icbm launches will cease as of saturday - it has not carried any out since november - and the atomic test site at punggye-ri 'will be abolished'.

Friday's move comes after months of threats and counter-threats between president trump and kim.

At his new year speech, the dictator claimed to have a nuclear button on his desk, prompting trump to tweet that he had an even bigger one.

Events have moved rapidly since then, catalyzed by the winter olympics in the south, and seoul is now pushing for a peace treaty to formally end the korean war, raising hopes that a settlement could finally be reached on the peninsula.

But there is a long way to go and moon himself acknowledged this week that the 'devil is in the details'.

On thursday, the south's president revealed that kim had expressed his commitment to 'complete denuclearization' of the korean peninsula without seeking conditions.

If he wins peace in that part of the world, gets us out of the BS non ending Democratic wars in the Mid East and gets the wall built? He will already be one of the greatest Presidents in the history of this country. And it all might happen in term 1.

Hopefully, Folks are reading the entire articles:

"North Korea has already effectively halted weapons tests for the past five months, after firing a missile on Nov. 29 believed to be capable of reaching any city in the U.S. After that launch, which prompted the most restrictive United Nations sanctions yet, Kim declared his regime’s decades-long quest for nuclear weapons “complete.”"

He's finished - unlike Iran. So another was of looking at it is the he acheived his full goals during the Trump admin....

Also, it is well know that his test sites have fallen in on themselves - he can't test or manufacture there any longer.

"“A fair amount of tunnels have collapsed and there’s even a possibility of radioactive leaks there,” said Hong, who has studied the seismic and geological data obtained from the tests. “Realistically, it’s highly unlikely they can be used for nuclear tests any more.”

If North Korea resumed nuclear testing at some point it would probably pick another site in the east, which is less populated and carries lower risk of contamination for Pyongyang, Hong added"

It won't be a "good thing" if N. Korea is the only completely Rogue state full of concentration camps with a dozen nukes and the missiles to deliver them. They certainly aren't going to thrown away their existing technology - in fact, they are probably working on perfecting the fitting of warheads....

I'm not being pessimistic...in fact, I'm optimistic. N. Korea, I think, wants better relations with China and SK and may even want to start feeding their populace. They see the writing on the wall. Then they will be able to send students abroad and learn even more.

The biggest question is whether they will have a civil society.

"– Annual GDP per capita is about $1,800, which ranks 197th in the world, according to the CIA World Factbook. GDP is 28 times higher in the United States and 18 times higher in South Korea. – About half of North Korea's population of 24 million lives in "extreme poverty,"

Extreme poverty - not good. We have given them billions....for food, oil, medicine, etc....all of it went to the 1%.

But maybe they will make T-Shirts for us or something....

Loony Leftists and presstitutes will never give Trump credit for anything good even if it's good for ALL Americans. Not really shocking at this point.

Rocket Man blew his wad when Trump called him names and called his bluff. Sanctions have crippled North Korea which is desperate for money. I think Rocket Man will focus on the economy because he has slave labor and could undercut the wages of workers in South Korea which would encourage many industries to relocate up north. High price for South Korea to pay for peace.

It is good and you have to give Trump credit. It was his tough tone with Kim that is bringing him to the table.

What I don't understand is why N. Korea does not follow what China has done and be a low labor cost mecca for cheap goods. Kim would look like a hero to his people and Kim would attain a lot more money by legally selling goods like China does instead of stealing aid money and selling illegal goods on the black market. Plus the bullseye would be off his forehead.
