lol! I am a minimalist use to packing light due to travelling in a small airplane. Most of my female partners always want to bring steamer trunks. My standard speech usually begins with, "you don't need that, you don't need that, you don't need that, Nope, you don't need that....."

I think given her personality, profession( how she makes a living doing that is a mystery) she probably made her presence known and annoyed the person next to her. She may have made an ass out of herself but still having the police called on her was not necessary. Just like with the guys at Starbuck's.
I never recline my seat on a bus since I don't want to inconvenience the person behind me. Leg room is more of a shortage than seat width on busses anyway. I'm only 6' tall and not even long legged.
I'm long-legged for a woman (32" inseam) and I've been on buses for 4 hour trips or so (usually chaperoning school field trips, like to the state finals for the National History Day competition), and find that the adjustable foot rest mounted on the back of the seat in front of me works to put my legs in a position that doesn't induce discomfort or cramps. I do the same thing with a backpack, etc., stuffed under the seat in front of me on an airline.

I've always said that, your luggage and you get on a scale and your flight cost is based on how much weight you add to the flight.

I wish. I just know he'll overpack and adjust accordingly. I don't need much. I can make pieces of clothing work in many different ways from casual to formal. Just pack neutrals with a few brightly colored pieces to attract interest and show off my style.

Agree!! Although, I think that the seating weight should be priced higher per pound (since it would affect how many passengers could sit in the cabin), and luggage at a lower weight. And maybe an added girth fee due to needing a wider seat, charged by the inch.

Except that the first airline to do this will get massacred because people don't want to be weighed and measured even if they're just *somewhat* overweight.

Fair <> practical in this world.

Let me give you another example, drivers that fall into the state run auto insurance pools due to accidents, tickets, DUI's etc. might have rates that need to be $4000 a year instead of $2000 a year if they had a good driving record. The state however subsidizes them (makes the people paying $2000 a year carry the extra cost) and only charges them $3000 a year.

It's unfair yes but think for a second about the real world consequences otherwise.

Spoiler
If it gets too expensive they'll just drive uninsured so at least this way they pay something into the system

We live in a world of fat people. We could just force them to take the bus or a livestock trailer or train and such, but we are a compassionate race.

The skinny people really don't use their whole seat.

They can scootch over a little.
No. Screw that. I paid for all of my seat, so I want all of it. I use the extra room to spread out my arms, curl up into a ball to try to sleep, etc.

That's happened to me a few times, once on a 16 hour flight. I try to avoid the middle seat if possible for that reason.

That's reasonable. At 6"5" 250, I'd be very happy to pay, say... 40% more for a seat that is 20% wider with 20% more leg room.

But why should the airline go to such expense and trouble for a very few passengers?
But it isn't just a very few people. I'd bet that close to half of all adult Americans are too big to fit comfortably in a standard economy class seat. And that isn't going to change any time soon, yet airlines have done little or nothing to respond to this reality.

It would have to be marketed with some finesse...
