I am neutral on the pros and cons of the border wall but if that is Trump's main issue, why has he not played hardball yet? I know he told some rally last week he would that is just bluster and will quickly be forgotten.
If Trump really wants the funding for the full border wall then why doesn't he make a real stand? Tell Congress that he won't fund the government until the border wall is funded. And not back down.
(Please, don't debate the border wall, there have been hundreds of discussions about that topic. Let's talk about the feasibility of Trump taking a real stand on the issue and not back down. Close the government for months if need be until Congress actually approves the money for the border. That is leadership.
Sure, great idea, don't pay federal employees for months. *F* Social Security, they can eat cat food. The wall is a useless waste of taxpayer money. It won't solve the illegal immigration problem, it will just move it to another part of the country. If Trump and congress want to get serious about this, then go after demand, and shut it down. You hire illegal immigrant under the table, you lose your business, period.
Yeah, he can continue to act like a foolish kid, and see where that takes us. There's no way hundreds of people in Congress are going to roll over and let him do whatever he wants. Many of the politicians are asleep at the wheel, but this would be the perfect mechanism to jolt them in consciousness.
He should push for it, so we'll have more ammunition to rid ourselves of him. But he's all talk and bravado. Empty to the core. He's not man enough to live up to his words. He's all about threats and schoolyard bullying. King of the punks and posers.
The next Democratic president can do this as well- if you won't fund my project, I'll shut down the government. We'll see how much you like it then.
Since the government is not a business (people make that mistake all the time), you can't run it like a business. I don't think that the president actually 'funds' the government nor can he shut it down on a whim.
If you hate the idea of a wall, then it is a bad idea but if you are Trump or his supporters, playing hardball is the only way you are going to get your border wall. Agree?
