Still all of this BS coming from a president, that seems to know nothing about history, economics, trade or diplomacy. Just likes fighting with anyone he can.

He needs to wake up from the 19th century, and realize that this is a global world, not just his little old back yard. Gads, we are going back to the horse and buggy days. MAGA, yeah right. We were pretty great until he got his greasy little hands on us.
Fires have NOTHING to do with it.

Then there's this little issue, Canada has long maintained a high tariff wall on most dairy products. The duty on milk is 270 per cent.

You know NAFTA was a George Bush Sr administration idea that Bill Clinton just signed. Of course, Clinton will forever be the one blamed for what was the single most destructive thing to happen to the USA, but when you step back, it's both the libs and cons that royally screwed America for generations to come.

But in your world apparently best efforts would have involved holding dreamers hostage, or ignoring congress on it ala trump with the Russia sanctions. Obama was a better president by doing what he could within the constitution. So yeah. "best efforts".
"blocked by congress"? I thought the dems had full control of congress during his first term...right? Are you saying that they REFUSED to bend over backwards for Obummer? Perhaps he was not "doing his best" huh?

I lived in a lumber town and saw first hand the destruction of the industry over the years. Same with the Aluminum industry.
Yep. Take it up with the land owners and the power companies.

So you know nothing of the industry, glad you admit it. It's got nothing to do with landowners and the power companies only had an impact on Aluminum plants and even that was only a partial reason for their closure...

US can't compete on stumpage rates, and constantly claims subsidy when there are none in effect. US Aluminum can't compete because the second largest ingredient in aluminum, electricity, is too expensive compared to Quebec's near limitless hydro power.

What am I missing again?

Obama had an opposition congress for six of his eight years and still managed to get things done.

poor wittle Donny!
what did Obama accomplish?
nothing!
He did accomplish a lot of damage to the economy , healthcare and foreign policy.

opposition from swamp creatures in both parties and an all out propaganda war by the hate and fear mongering democrat party and their henchmen, the mainstream media.

So why did most of the lumber mills in the U.S. close? Nothing to do with "stumpage rates" btw...
