Midnight last night was the deadline for the trump tariffs...the ones he said were crucial to fulfilling his agenda. Well, there won't be any.
It was as ignorant an idea as his wall. All bluster on the campaign trail, then he walks it back. It's good that he abandons these idiotic ideas, but one would think his base is disappointed....again.
The May 1 deadline for steel and aluminum tariff exemptions for U.S. allies has been extended, the White House said.
Instead, the Trump administration has decided to postpone the decision on some allies, including the European Union, for 30 days to allow further discussions. Those extensions will affect the EU, Canada and Mexico.
The U.S. has agreed in principle with Argentina, Australia and Brazil on "alternative means" to address steel tariffs for now, but the White House said if these alternatives aren't finalized shortly, it leaves open the possibility of reimposing tariffs. A senior administration official told CNBC that decision period would be 30 days, as well.
South Korea's exemption from tariffs is permanent because it agreed to quotas as part of a new trade deal. Administration officials have asked other countries what level of quotas they would agree to.
How come every single politician since Trump was allowed to "pivot" or change his mind on a topic and receive very little flak from doing so but when it comes to Trump he is labelled a liar that is sorely disappointing his base that with no doubt will run from him to vote for anyone come 2020... ?
The article said that the decision is postponed. There is nothing wrong with that like there is nothing wrong with postponing the Wall. Yes Trump's supporters are disappointed that the wall has not been built yet but we all recognize that there is huge push back from many misguided short sighted people that somehow think that having open borders is a good idea and a positive thing for the country.
Trump is doing the best he can in the face of the most ridiculous opposition any President has ever faced and his base understand this.

because he screams (literally) and boasts BIGLY about everything he's going to do.
haha, if he's getting so much opposition from a republican congress, what's he going to accomplish if/when at least the House goes dem?
Obama had an opposition congress for six of his eight years and still managed to get things done.
so the two trumpers responding both fail to address the primary issue.
Trump assured the poeple of the US he would make great deals and it would be easy because he would bring his business experience to the WH...
It turns out Trump either grossly overestimated his own ability or he was just lying.
Dbones attacks the comprehension of the OP and then fails to explain the error, (he just threw mud and ran)
meanwhile cape cod todd does not dispute Trump's failing so much as say it is not fair. (ie cedes that trump is making mistakes but thinks he should be cut some slack cause stuff)
So it would seem Trump's supporters are at a real loss, they simply can't explain why Trump is unable to come with workable solutions to the things he identified as problems.
Trump claimed he had a lot of answers, he promised much more than the typical person running for POTUS, and yet he has had to walk back one thing after another for the last year and a half.
Trump promised he had a great "PLAN" for healthcare that would be cheaper, better and cover everyone, and that it was "so easy". Yet within a few months, trump said "who knew it was so complicated" .... thing is everyone but Trump knew, or Trump was lying. so the options are Trump was ignorant or lying.
We have seen this play out time and time again, there is little point rehashing it, but we all know Trump made massive promises on complex issues and has not delivered nor is he even on the path to delivering on them. From NAFTA and TPP to Trump's infantile attempts to make deals with individual members of the EU (illegal for those members).
What we see is a man who is grossly out of his depth and at the same time unable or unwilling to hire in people who can effectively carry out his base policies. I believe Trump just lacks the skill set to be anything more than a rabble rouser and naysayer.

Trump is way in over his head.
He's an aging real estate developer with a passel of kids and ex-wives he's trying to support.
He is still negotiating. The first offer is never the last offer. I'm beginning to thing most posters have never had jobs that were salaried. You can't negotiate if you work at Starbucks or McDonald's.
Listen to Sec of Commerce Wilbur Ross and not the usually flawed interpretations of presstitutes. I prefer to get my information directly from sources whenever possible.
