Well, the UK did stand alone at first against Germany. If it wasn't for them Germany might have had a better chance against Russia, no? Russia sure paid heavily with lives though fighting the Germans (with supply help from the US).

Half of Briton’s believe that the UK did more than other country to beat Hitler, a survey has found.

Exactly 50% of people questioned in the YouGov poll think that Britain did more to topple the Nazis during the Second World War.

I would say Russia. The battle of Stalingrad is considered the most brutal and bloodiest battles ever fought.

But the British certainly did their share, especially the RAF.

7 out of 10 Germans were killed by the Red Army. England was only around for mop up duty with the U.S. after June of 1944.

The USAAF did a stellar job with their bombing runs but its documented than German armament production continued to increase until wars end.

Clearly the Soviet Union did the most to defeat Germany by any measure, even though at first the two countries were allies.

If Hitler had not attacked the Soviet Union, the story would be very different, but he did attack them so that's that.

Honestly, specifically I'd say the Russian winter did more than any human army. Don't try to invade Russia in the winter time. Bad idea.

Someone must have forgotten to inform Rommel. Man, what a lot of trouble he could have saved.

And the IJA in Burma, too...

The old cliche about the Brits buying the Allies time, the Americans supplying the money and the Russians buying their share with blood is not entirely off.
