Healthcare is one area a large number of GOP have a non conservative view of.
Non transparent pricing
Back billing by out of network care providers inside in-network hospitals.
Big pharma getting the govt to agree to not negotiate price
Abusive practices by health insurance
Health insurance for a family of 4 costing equivalent of the payment on a 350K house.
Health costs being the highest of the industrialized countries with results among the worst in the same group.
Health insurance causing job lock
Health insurance causing companies to only hire part time

A few reasons I can think of. Im sure there are more they cross over. Non rich people are simply weary of the fight.

It would be GOOD IF the dems would do this once in a while instead of blocking EVERYTHING, like presidential appointment dawn out to as far as possible then they vote for them anyway, the repubs try to do.

If Dems really want single payer, now is the time to make it a campaign issue. Will they do it?

They do not care. It would have been passed long ago if they did.

Some people favor Single Payer. And some of them vote Republican.

While the rest of the developed world has embraced Universal Healthcare, most are not Single Payer Systems. A few are entirely private insurer pays. Most are a mixed bag. Some countries require employers to subsidize and some do not. All subsidies low/ no income people.

Healthcare costs tend to be less in most countries because of government oversight and populations that take more personal responsibility for their own health.

When 75% of the adult population is overweight/ obease as it is in the US, the population is substantially more vulnerable to otherwise preventable diseases. It cost $$$ to teat disease.

Medicaid Expansion is part of ACA (Obamacare). It was passed with ACA.

Medicaid Expansion is what passed in VA recently; they already had Medicaid.

Pure Medicaid(not expansion) is not part of ACA.
