this is idiocy. when souter was nominated to the supreme court, one of the things that liberals were worried about was that somehow he would overturn roe v wade. guess what, it NEVER HAPPENED. and right now, assuming kavanaugh is approved, it will still be a 5-4 court, and chances are a roe v wade case will either not hit the court, or the court will rely on previous precedent and uphold roe v wade, since it is considered settled law at this point.
Cases are making their way through state courts now - of course one is going to 'hit the court'.

I think, if I'm being totally honest, most people don't really care about Roe v Wade anymore. Most of us don't even think about it at all. It's done, over, finished, etc. Abortion is available and will continue to be available. And that's not going to change. The only reason we are even talking about it again is because it's been whipped up by the left as a talking point in order to give some reason why all Democrats should push against Trump's SCOTUS pick, when we all know the main reason for resistance is quite simple. Trump nominated him. That's it and that's all. Roe v Wade has nothing to do with any of this. I mean sure, abortion is always a good topic to bring up in the forum if you want to inspire some fierce debate, because everyone has their own opinions about abortion and we can get fairly passionate about the subject. But the bottom line is even most of those who are completely anti-abortion know they will never be able to stop abortion. And adding another Trump judge to SCOTUS is not going to change that.
I agree entirely with your post, particularly the bolded part. Abortion isn't going anywhere. This recent screeching over it is nothing but a political tactic that malleable voters fall for every time.

the point is that there must be compelling reason to overturn roe v wade, like there was for janus. and chances are that there is no compelling reason to reconsider roe v wade, except perhaps certain restrictions on when abortion will be allowed. remember the original ruling was based on a right privacy, and was limited to the first trimester of a pregnancy.
