stomach churning, horrible news. I feel so sad for the girls and boys abused by the priests they trusted. I was sexually abused by a high school coach. I was gutted, but never said a word to anyone for a long time except my boyfriend because I was too naïve to know what happened to me and knew no one would believe me instead of this revered man. Unless one has been through sexual abuse by an authority figure, you have no idea how this betrayal of trust feels.

the catholic church should be so ashamed for their coverup.

edited to add: the coach I reference above retired recently with a huge spread of praise in the local paper. I wrote the newspaper about what this coach did to me almost 40 years ago. my letter was never published.

The Catholic church is to big to face punishement.

If they were a smaller organization law enforcement would have shut them down years ago.

Just so it's understood this goes back many decades, for example the Pittsburgh diocese hasn't had an incident in that report since 1990. That's no excuse for what happened prior to that but this report is not an indication of the current issues. There is also many enablerse listed in it including politicians, community leaders and law enforcement.

Thanks for the clarification.

As a Catholic, I think anyone going to church and giving them money is an enabler. They won't clean up their act until the money stops flowing in.

Enough already for christ's sake (quite literally). Prosecute the Church under RICO laws. Seize all of their property and money. This is ridiculous. And they absolutely behaved as a criminal org. trying to cover it up.

There was a priest who went the bus stop in my town and took pictures of little girls, only girls. We had a long "talk" with him.
