Part of our duties as a non elderly humans is to protect the elderly from unnecessary pain and humiliation. We’re responsible for them living out their years with dignity, and respecting the fact that they preserved this society for us to live comfortably in. I cannot tolerate a physical attack on an elderly person.

That’s a scene that would NEVER play out in most civilized nations. An Italian or French police officer wouldn’t dare to tase an 87 year old woman. That we’d tolerate it here is some sad ****!
The USA is far from civilized in some respects how the police handled this situation and how the peanut gallery on here supports their actions illustrates just how far from civilized some pockets of this country are.

Really? Can you point me to a list of acceptable names?

I don't disagree with what you're saying but that doesn't mean they always make the right decisions.
In this case, it looks like they screwed up badly.

I read the article, and it makes it clear there was no reason whatsoever for the police to "encounter" this woman. They tased her because, apparently, they can't conceive of just walking away from someone who's not doing anything wrong.

The grandmother was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor criminal trespass and obstruction of an officer and held at the police station for about three hours, Douhne said. Police refused to allow his mother and sister to interpret for al-Bishara while she was being booked and having her mugshot taken.
I wonder if they beat a confession out of her too...

Ummm...I believe that poster was being sarcastic. Pretty sure they are not in agreement with the officer's actions.
