And so far only 2 sided. Canada out of talks for past 3 weeks. Definitely not a done deal.

Is it a better deal for Mexico than they had 2 years ago?

Trump is illustrating exactly what the job of President of the US should be. And the politicians on both sides don’t like it.

None of us - including Trump- -- lol -- knows yet.

It's a preliminary deal? What does that even mean?

I will give kudos to this administration. This latest announcement of a 'deal' gives the apperance of some great accomplishment.

But as we are being leaked info, we see it is another one of those BIG victory laps for a very small accomplishment.

And we've been doing this dance for a week now.

What a show for people hungry to try and believe he's done something -- anything -- lol.

What has he done?

What is the big accomplishment of this deal?

Name one thing?

Thank you,.

Yeah, thats absolutely what is likely to happen. Look at this thread for example. Trump supporters call it a big win. But dont know whats in the deal. Its ridiculous.

The big measure of the final NAFTA deal -- and notice I said final deal because all of the preliminary stuff won't matter if they can't close the total deal, will be the number of jobs created.

No jobs created or a shifting of jobs...if job numbers grow at the same pace they have for 8 years now -- then all of this was a big show for Trump fans.

I felt a 5-year sunset clause was too soon. I agree with Trump that trade deals need to be revisited from time to time. A 10-12 year sunset clause would be better, and it takes pressure off future POTUS that they have to redo this deal on a regular basis.

The 5 year sunset clause was the only condition that kept a three way deal from being signed in May.

That's right -- they were within a day of signing the whole deal off and Pence came up with the 5 yr. renegotiating condition. Canada & Mexico said no way and walked.

Because yes -- it takes almost a year just to negotiate the new deal -- that's in a sense renegotiating every four years. That's not nearly enough time to even realize the impact of the pre-existing deal.

Folks have a naive view that changes in this kind of a deal are made immediately -- same with expansion plans.

This stuff can take some time to make adjustments.

If corporations make adjustments based on one deal and four years later they are in upheaval again -- what does that do for corporate planning.

Call me crazy but I think that is significant information we need before we declare a victory.

That and the deal actually signed. We've been told a few times a deal was close to be signed.

No it doesn't matter the MSM and Dems will lie about it no matter what it is. After all they say he lies about everything and that is not likely to change. Unless they admit they are the ones that have been lying all along. That would be less likely. However, TRUE !!!
