I have no problem with President Trump using this little-used FDR law. We must have farmers.
Of course, the bailout is only needed due to Mr. Trump's idiotic 'trade war'.
Let us acknowledge this, for it is widely reported: those countries that purchased our soybeans, wheat, sorghum, etc., are now looking for new suppliers. Hopefully, Mr. Trump will prevail in his efforts, and China, the EU, etc., will continue to purchase our excess farm produce.
Yet, even a dotard will acknowledge that China, for instance, is seeking new deals with Brazil and other countries, to satisfy their demand for soybeans and such.
That is the danger: our farmers may (may) be losing foreign markets for years.
Mr. Trump has trodden down a dangerous path. It is good that he is attempting to ameliorate the financial damage to our farmers, although it is only a pittance. Many farmers will, when all is said and done, have to go out of business.
This is indeed a Socialist program and it's totally irrelevant who created it. The Trump administration is doing it.
