Geez Talk about having an itchy trigger finger. Was there any orders to stop, put your hands up, get down?
Something doesn't sound right with this. A trained cop is confronted in what she thinks is her apartment and he first inclination is to pull out her gun and shoot?
Imagine if it is found out that she had some type of beef with the guy like he parked in her spot or he didn't pick up after his dog?
Very strange to shoot first and ask questions later considering her training.
It could have been a real massacre if her friends held a surprise party for her.
Being a police officer is irrelevant IMO, anyone else who "accidentally" stepped into someone's apartment and shot them would be immediately arrested for manslaughter or murder and this woman should as well.
Was she under the influence? I've heard of drunks going into other people's homes, thinking they were home. Scary stuff, and she should have the book thrown at her.

What's the "more to the story"? Was she fiddling with the lock, trying to put her key in, and he opened the door and completely surprised her? And she pulled out her gun reflexively and shot him?
I agree with the others. As written, this story is not believable.

Agreed. Reading the article-it's obvious that it was written in order to push an agenda. If it is as reported, she'll be charged and tried, same as anyone else.

I think you're getting warm. There's no way someone sober walks into the wrong apartment thinking it was theirs.
This happened in my buddies neighborhood within the last year or so near Kansas City.
Guy got drunk as heck, came home to the wrong HOUSE...about 5-6 doors down. Attacked homeowner chased them outside and put them in a chokehold killing them. Guy had priors for booze, assault etc.
Smart money would be on booze or drugs being involved unless they'd just very recently moved there.
