Why does any day have to be mandated by the federal government as a special day? If Good Friday means something to you, such that you don't think you should be at work, then take that day off. Why does the government need to force your employer into giving you that day off?

Because that's how a theocracy works, and a theocracy is exactly what the OP wants.

But forget Good Friday. My point is why should the federal government mandate we take off Memorial Day or Labor Day or any other day? Why do they decide what days are important for all 330 million Americans such that they are declared holidays?

Who could possibly have an issue with Veterans Day?! A day that honors the men and women who have been to war to defend our freedoms?

Columbus Day is a joke, I wouldn't mind seeing that go away. Christopher Columbus was a horrible person.

Anecdotal.

Most employers who do not recognize all holidays either require employees to use a vacation or personal day (assuming they provide such benefits).

A Federal Holiday is a paid holiday for federal employees.

States are not obligated to recognize a Federal Holiday for state employees.

The private sector is not required by any government to provide any paid holidays.

Actually it’s quiet the opposite where Christians are being bashed and oppressed and lots of off-topics.

It’s not about me it’s about promoting a nice 3-day weekend in spring and for convenient for majority of the people. Most countries in the world including your neighbor countries has Good Friday as a national holiday (some also Easter Monday).

People may say 'happy holidays' instead of merry Christmas, but THAT is the holiday (Christmas/birth of Jesus), saying 'Happy holidays' is no different than Merry Christmas imo.
I am as agnostic as they come. I love Christmas, decorations, music, food, parties and family gatherings.
