Why shouldn’t a felon who has paid his/her debt to society vote?
Exactly...if we hold someones crime over their head, for the rest of their lives, even after they have paid off their debt to society, we are no better than the criminals!
Crimes should drop off peoples record AUTOMATICALLY, misdemeanors could drop off every 5 years and felonies maybe 7-10 years. I dont see any problem in doing this, it would benefit society more than anything.
Because Republicans fear they will mostly vote for Democrats, instead of Republicans.
You know what is funny about this assertion is that nobody knows the political ideology of former felons.
Why do some assume that ex felons somehow will all become Democrats?
If you are going to restore rights then it should be ALL rights. Why just the right to vote? Why not restore the right to own and carry a firearm? Serious question.............

Im pretty sure they can already do that, but with felonies, its like 10 yrs before they can get a CC permit or license.
I know a guy who had felony drug charges around 26 yrs ago, but after he did his time, he cleaned up his act and he has a open carry permit today.
I have a little bit of a problem with someone who stuck a gun in someone else's face or beat the living daylights out of his wife having the same voting rights as I do. It certainly calls into question their decision making ability and/or their morals.
I also don't think these felons even give a crap about voting.
What is repugnant is to continue to punish people who have served their time & paid their debt to society.
By the way this Amendment has about 70% support here so it will probably pass.
Good to hear. The system you have currently is ridiculous.
