Republicans are justifiably unhappy with Democrats gaining a small majority in the House of Representatives. Look forward to huge deficits and repeated government shutdowns as a result.
But keep in mind too, that President Reagan was able to enact his Reagan Revolution while having no House majority for any of his eight years in office. The largest tax rate cuts to date in history, restoring the military, defeating the Soviet Union etc.
Only when the Democratic House (which constitutionally controls the purse strings) reneged on their promises to balance the budget, and rammed through huge social spending increases, telling Reagan he had to sign them if he didn't want to lost his tax rate cuts and military funding, did the deficits soar. Even then, Reagan's tax rate cuts resulted in MORE revenue to the government for nearly all his eight years in office as interest rates and unemployment fell - a true revolution.
How did he do it? By making a number of speeches to the nation, describing what he wanted to do when Republicans' bills came up for a vote, telling normal Americans why they were necessary, what the benefits were, what bad things might happen if they didn't pass etc. Tweeting hadn't been invented then, but Reagan used the Bully Pulpit to great advantage, calling on normal Americans to write or call their Congressmen and telling them to pass Reagan's initiatives. And it worked very well.
President Trump is also doing that quite a lot, mostly through the recent development of Twitter, where he has some 6 million viewers. He is well poised to continue with Twitter and Presidential speeches, telling everyone that his huge budget he signed was a one-off and that they shouldn't expect such profligate spending to continue, whether the House likes it or not.
He can also point out that we can spend $20 billion on the wall, or $120 billion taking care of invading illegal aliens for the next decade or so, which would they rather do? And other such facts. Reagan went around the censorship of the leftist media during his Presidency and spoke directly to the people. Trump is good at dong that too - driving the Democrats nuts.
Loss of the House majority isn't good for the nation. But with a strong Senate Trump can keep appointing law-abiding judges and Justices, leaving his mark on the Judiciary that protects the Constitution for a generation or more.
And if he handles the Bully Pulpit well, he can continue his success at economic expansion and freedom... again whether the House Democrats like it or not.
Reagan was experienced and popular. People liked him personally. Trump is a nasty prick who loves fighting and confrontation. Trump knows nothing about leading. He is in it for himself and everyone knows it--nobody is going out of their way for this oaf.
Geez, yet ANOTHER thread created by the right this morning, trying to downplay the dems taking the House and make it seem like this is no big deal for Trump.
Why can't you guys just be honest? Losing the House is not a HUGE deal for Trump, but things will definitely be different for him moving forward.
I hate Trump, but I can admit that holding Senate and even picking up a few seats was a win for Trump. Why are some (not all) Trump supporters so incapable of being objective and agree that losing the House was not good for Trump?

TRANSLATION: I can't refute anything you said, but I hate it anyway. So I'll try to pretend it's somehow not legitimate, and hope that somebody believes me.

Don't you love it when hysterical liberals ask OTHER people to be honest?

TRANSLATION: OK, I admit it, you were telling the truth.
Reagan was a downright gun grabbing, amnesty granting, socialist by today's Republican standards, so of course he made it work with the Democrats of the time.
But this is an ideal conservative government setup. Checks and balances back in place. And expected stalemates on everything but the most popular of measures. A government that can't do anything new is the definition of conservatism.
