yes, and it's perfectly legal for those good guys to sell those guns to anyone, which is inevitably how many not so good guys gets their hands on guns. Go figure.

When did killing a bunch of strangers become the way we deal with our personal troubles? Was it the 1966 University of Texas Tower Massacre?

That is not accurate at all. There are laws governing ALL firearm sales. Whether or not they are adhered to is another issue.
