I knew the spin from the Trump faithful would not disappoint.

If we can help create a local Mecca for destitute people they would have less reason to come here. We should worry about the plan and its execution if it actually materializes because there are local forces that would work against it. This is the only way to begin fixing the problem. We might also need something like an industrial peace corps instead of multinational corporations sucking up the cash.

"industrial peace corps" - In case you havent noticed many US products are already made overseas by private concerns, so no need for a boondoggle agency funded by our working class and run by economically illiterate politicians/bureaucrats who think they know what everyone else needs.
And the US already plays world cop (which has been incontestable failure) and there is no evidence to support its ability to play world employer/ job creator/ fence builder.

"instead of multinational corporations sucking up the cash"- unlike you I dont believe governments spend money more wisely than those who have skin in the game and earn it.

Noted that you think its just fine to make us poorer at home while a handful of people in DC spread the riches to its friends abroad.

I hate to think that Trump is turning into a sellout and traitor to the American taxpayer. If he continues down this path he might not turn out to be much better than his predecessor. We are running a budget deficit, can't afford to secure our own borders, let alone take care of our veterans, yet he agrees to throw $10.6 billion taxpayer dollars away on aid to corrupt nations? Is this turning into a continuation of the Obama administration?

I don’t see Trump selling out on building a secure border, but the republicans under Ryan did not give any help on this. Trump can only do so much by himself.

Trump has a record of keeping campaign promises. America and Americans first is on full display with the recent criminal justice reform bill and troop withdrawal from Syria. No other republican would of got this done.

Wouldn't it be interesting if Central American countries and Mexico use the money to build a wall to help keep their citizens from illegally entering the US.

Yeah, they are going to give Trump a win.

More like their new strategy in dealing with Trump and Congress noted. They threaten by a warning of China very interested in the region ......

For a long time there has been this competition within Latin America for influence, where China is willing to invest billions in infrastructure and energy that the United States simply isn’t. Or maybe it's more now again.

Warning Warning ..... a liberal news source!!! Open at your own risk.....

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/17/w...nts-trump.html

From link:
- Don’t anger him. Don’t cave in to him. Try to get him to help fund an ambitious investment plan to stem migration by creating jobs in Central America.

And if Mr. Trump cannot be persuaded, Mexican officials said in interviews that they would remind him that there is another player in the region willing to step into the vacuum: China.

China would like Naval ships there more. They do basically, own a Port in Mexico. Maybe Congress has heeded the warning .......

Mexico must be building a wall somewhere and having the US pay for it.

So let's see.....the liberals don't want to build a wall but also don't want to help other countries and stop the flood of illegal migrants coming here. They'd rather have open borders and have the US inundated with disease-ridden bug-infested illiterates that cost the taxpayers billions and billions of dollars every year.

Sounds about right.

Ok, so when such money was given in the Obama years, what was that for in your estimation?

Or was this thread just another opportunity to throw an attack quip toward Trump?
