Air traffic control was undermined during shutdown
National security was undermined during the shutdown
Trump caved because the US economy was about to crash.
Air transportation was slowing. Getting close to collapse.
From ordinary airline passengers to Fedex and UPS and US Mail. All use air transportation.
And the same will happen if there is another "next time".
It is that simple.
Trump caved because of airline transportation.
The air controllers were the straw that broke the camel's back at last. Without them, the pain and damage of the shut-down would have only worsened, and the speed of the damage would have increased.
They weren't the only reason why Trump caved in, but the air traffic controllers courageously provided the critical moment where no one could avoid the inevitable any longer.
But if Trump dares to try it again, there will always be some group of our people who will have the courage to stop it.
It could be the traffic controllers again, or some other group of federal employees. Or even the contractors who provide the government vital services.
The fact is very simple: our government is an integral part of all our lives every day. When it's up and running, we all benefit from it. When it is shut down, we all suffer.
Lets say you're right; time to privatize.
No one person, no one profession, no one body of degenerate politicians should be able to crash an economy.
It was getting dangerous with the air traffic controllers worrying so much they weren't sleeping at night. That is one profession where you have to be operating at 100%. It was just a matter of time before some tragedy struck.
You'd be wrong! If this is what you think then you haven't been paying attention.
This is OPTICS...Trump knows that, just as in every other instance, the Dems will think they have their way and have won. They will now feel even more powerful to reneg on wall negotiations as expected. Remember this reopening is temporary. Trump will not get the Dems to negotiate...he doesn't expect to but will seem like he's exasperated at trying.
That's when he will pull out the big guns, exclaim a national emergency at the SOTU address and show that he's done everything he could to negotiate with the spoiled brat dems and that he now has no other choice.
