It was planned for today. The point is that were it not for the informant, the community member as the news calls him, who knows what the person would have done. That he was working with undercover FBI doesn't change that his plan was to do it today. What if he met someone else who was just as radicalized as he is?
As someone said earlier: FBI did their job. Citizen did their job. It worked. That's the point of the thread.
I am curious how he expected to haul a backpack into the White House and start blowing holes in things. Was he going to walk through the front door on a tour? I'm sure the backpack would have been checked. Was he going to try to sneak across the lawn? Do they not have people on the roof, watching for just this type of lunatic?
Then again, no one really expected anyone to fly planes into buildings, either so who knows - the good news is, we don't have to sit here and wonder, after the fact, how it was possible that he did this.
I have a lot to say to some of these comments, but instead I'm going to reiterate my point from the beginning:
Don't get complacent. See something, say something. There's been too many times that people said they "suspected" or "thought" the attacker was doing something strange, but never said anything because they feared ... whatever PC thing they feared. This time, the person who tipped off the FBI was not afraid to say something. No one should be afraid to say something.
