Elections have consequences.

Democrats went into the 2018 election hoping to take the Senate, and to their dismay, they did far far worse than expected. They lost power.

Give people a reason to vote for the Democrat senator and it gets better.

The House put forth two bills that Mitch blocked.

McConnell for weeks has said he would not bring legislation to the floor on the shutdown unless there was a deal between President Trump and Democrats on border security, the issue that has triggered the shutdown. McConnell has described other votes as "show votes."

He is not doing his part in the Senate to make a deal with the House to send to the President. He is being an obstructionist as usual.

Now he is hiding from his duties.

McConnell is currently hiding out. Either he has not been able to come up with a clever scheme to end this or he has not received word from Putin on what do yet.

Time will tell.
I applaud your post!

Exactly! It's all a sham. The House gave them what they've asked for originally and the Senate sat on it until the President renege on the deal thanks to Fox news. The House should just send the bills to Fox News and have them legislate instead of the Senate.

Gonna get bad for the Democrats when the foodstamps run out soon. They just announced this will be the last time the EBT cards will be loaded while the shutdown is in effect.

Trump has not stated he will accept half of his wall demand. In fact he has increased it from $5 billion to $5.7 billion.

Nor has he stated what it will be made of. At one point he said something about Democrats wanting steel fencing, but pretty sure he just made that up.

Trump is an untrustworthy partner in a negotiation, which is likely why McConnell won't make a move until he has Trump on record agreeing to something.

At this point, Trump is still demanding $5.7 billion for a wall of unknown composition and unknown total cost.

The Turtle is one of the worst politicians this country has seen in decades. The United States government will be instantly more efficient the day he leaves office.

It's people like McConnell who make me want term limits

Yowza!

Senate shouldn't need a permission slip from the President to do their work. Senate is a co-equal branch of government.

Jon Tester laid it out.
