True, but Dems know that the killing of full term babies will not cause any problems with their supporters. But if you insult a black person......!

I recall about a decade ago Virginia Democrats were screaming to the heavens about Republican senator George Allen calling some bozo heckler a made up word and for having a confederate flag in his house.
I don't like Northam, his comments on abortion that I heard with my own ears the other day were horrible and his race baiting, truck chasing children commercial was disgusting.

Having said that I doubt having the nickname 'coonman' had anything to do with race.I'm not sure how it could, how would a white man calling himself 'coonman' have a racial connotation?I'm guessing it had something to do with racoon hunting but i'm open to an explanation on that count.

I also remember how things were in 1984 and it doesn't shock me that college students wore racially insensitive costumes at the time. Most people were likely smart enough not to pick such pictures for their yearbook but I don't think they are overly relevant to what someone believes today....they may not have been relevant to what he felt then.Sometimes a costume is just a costume.....

I don't know why he chose not to shake someones hand....i'm white and there are plenty of white peoples hands I wouldn't shake.I don't automatically see racism as the reason...

There are a lot of reasons I don't like the guy without latching onto stupid or insensitive things from 30-40 years ago or presuming nicknames or handshake avoidance have meanings that they may not.

I agree if this was a republican it would be a 24-7 news frenzy but I'm tired of all the constant hoopla over trivial matters from decades ago.

Or if you dare to stand still and smile at him while he is insulting you....

You should attempt to stay on topic or is that a losing argument.

Another "news" story that is not really news, or even that important if you think about it. Yet you would be led to believe so if all you did was sit around and watch CNN/MSNBC/Fox and listen to NPR all day.

I think you're right. Nobody gives a crap about 90% of the stuff we argue about here. People only care about how it can be used to help or hurt political ideologies they either support or oppose. It's a sick game and it's tearing our country apart. Someone is benefiting from it though.

Some of the Commonwealth's Democratic Congressional Representatives (Spanberger, McEachin and Luria) have called for Northam to resign. Note that their terms run out a year before the Governor's.

Meanwhile, Gerry Connolly (D, VA-11) stopped short of calling for Northam to resign:

Well, since we have condemned others for past sections, we shouldn't stop now Rusty is a Democrat. So, off with his head, I guess.
