Think about it. New Jersey hasn't been a swing state since the 1990s presidentially. Tennessee hasn't been a swing state since 2000-when Al Gore failed to win his own home state.
If the EC is gone, the popular vote rules, but TN Democrats and NJ Republicans would actually go out and vote because their vote would be meaningful, won't it?
Don't have to think about it.
It would be a Constitutional change which requires 2/3rds of the Governors to sign on. Ain't gonna happen, read my lips, not gonna, not never, nope.

That is correct!

Be careful what you wish for.
Lincoln lost the popular vote but won the EC. THANK GOD he did!

Should 5% of the voters get to control 95% of the population?
West Virginia, who depends on my tax dollars to survive, doesn't get to speak for me. The minority should not get to control the majority and since rural area populations are shrinking, this is becoming an ever-increasing problem.
AGAIN: Should 5% of the voters get to control 95% of the population?
Our forefathers could not predict the future. Our forefathers supported slavery. Things change and the Electoral College will eventually go away.
West Virginia is speaking for West Virginia. Or do you not understand how the Electoral College works?

If Republicans can keep whining about New York and California, then Democrats can remind them that West Virginia should not control a majority either. Further, these small rural states live on the largess of urban centers so they are basically taking urban money resulting in what could ultimately could be taxation without representation.

In other words, you have no idea how the Electoral College works. Just say so.
Here at the state level, there is no equivalent to the EC. State-wide elections are solely decided on the 'popular vote.'
A few years ago, Paul Allen wanted a tax-funded stadium for the Seahawks. A statewide election was held, and it passed by 51%. But of 39 counties, 29 voted it down. Ten counties around the Seattle area voted 'yes,' That's what not having an EC system gets you. Ten entities decide for the entire 39.
In other words, you have no idea how the Electoral College works. Just say so.
I know EXACTLY how the Electoral College works. Should 5% of the voters control 95% of the population? Everyone knows why Republicans won't answer this question.
