A Suffolk County Community College groundskeeper says he was told he cannot wear his "Make America Great Again" hat while working on campus.
Salvatore Esposito, an Iraq War veteran and registered Conservative, has worked the Selden campus grounds for 11 years. He says he wore his "MAGA" hat this past Sunday and was told on Monday that he cannot do it again.
Esposito says the executive dean sent his boss an email saying he couldn't wear the hat.
I worked for a County agency for many years. We did not allow anyone to wear anything political, from any "side." A professional workplace should not be where advocate for our political leanings. We also could not advertise products or do religious proselytizing, and no one could come into a County building to sell anything. This is simple professionalism.

This is not simple professionalism. After it was pointed out that professors wore clothing with political messages, the school changed their story and said hats were a uniform violation.
Are all political displays banned or just those that the college doesn't like?
What's the actual policy?
