BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb killed an American soldier in Baghdad on Saturday, capping the bloodiest week for U.S. troops in Iraq this year. Clashes persisted in Shiite areas, even as the biggest Shiite militia sought to rein in its fighters.
I'll post this story without comment.

WOW, we have one bad week this year, and its like the world is coming to an end. There will be good and bad times, we ran into a bad week last week. Does not mean the war is not going good. If you compare the violence of the 2006 to 2007-2008 so far, violence is down.

Some people are too quick to jump on something.

We've had about 250 bad weeks.

ANY week Americans are lost in a war of choice is a bad week

WHEN are the good ones going to begin?

you know what? If I could have been, I would have been. I have a shoulder condition that would not let me join when I went to join the armed forces.

You don't need to call people names.

yes, there are good times, and bad times in War, I can go as far back as WWI or even to ancient wars to show the good times and bad times. I do appreciate your service to our country. But to say that there are only bad times in war is false. D-day was a good time in war, we pushed our way into europe. We did loose many soldiers during that battle. but the ultimate outcome was removing Hitler, and restoring "freedom". Napoleons march into Russia, at the end the French army had to retreat due to weather and lack of supply's. I would think that to be a good thing for Russia.

I do know why you are so passionate about what you experienced, but to use it to blind yourself is not a good thing.

Funny thing, survival was my only mantra when I was in Viet-Nam! Half of my squad came back to the states in body bags, what was their priorities? You, me and a couple of M-16's for one day, I'll show you what "good and bad" looks like!

Viet Nam is not the issue, and the responses to those who disagree are excessive.
