Nope.
It is not because he is an accomplished athlete. It is because his only real accomplishment is being an athlete. For me that doesn't rise to the level a Medal of Freedom should but, to be fair, it has in the past so it's not exactly like a new precedent is being set. At the very least, him receiving the award right now is too premature.

I agree. I don't look at any athletes as "heroes". I was not commenting on whether or not he should have received the medal, just that he deserves a second chance in the court of public opinion. I think the guy/gal that labors every day to feed his/her family, or someone that sacrifices for the community, or country is a hero, not a pampered athlete.
One of the issues with Trump giving Tiger this award is the fact that Woods is a business partner of Trump and his golf courses. DJT stands to make more money off of any new exposure and attention that Tiger gets.

These are some good reads on Woods. Personally, I think he was a good pick, regardless of by whom or for whatever motivations.

ignorant post......Obama gave the same medal to Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Meryl Streep, Steven Spielberg, Robert Redford, Robert Deniro, Tom Hanks, all Democrats who donated $$$$ and campaigned for Obama in 2008 and 2012.
