Decisions have to be compatible with the European Covention on Human Rights, as enshrined in the UK 1998 Human Rights Act, and it had to be considered against discrimination, privacy and family life, the Right to Life and numerous othere such rights.
The Court of Protection (High Court) can be appealed through to Coirt of Appeal, UK Surpreme Court and European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. The European Convention on Human Rights and European Court of Human Rights are entirely seperate organisations to the EU, and there are 47 signatory countries that must adhere to the convention and it's court including the UK.

"Both the woman and her mother, identified by news reports as a former midwife from Nigeria, are against terminating the pregnancy, with the older woman offering to care for the child, according to the court and news media reports. The woman’s lawyers and a social worker also objected to terminating the pregnancy."
Follow up June 24: Overturned on Appeal
The woman’s mother challenged that ruling, and on Monday three Court of Appeal judges overturned it, confirmed her lawyer, John McKendrick. He said the judges granted his client’s appeal after an “emergency last-minute hearing” on Monday.
“The court set aside Mrs. Justice Lieven’s decision and ruled it was not in her best interests to have the termination,” Mr. McKendrick wrote in an email. He said that the woman “will continue with her pregnancy.”
This is an example of why the Gov. should stay out of the abortion debate.
No one but the mother to be and those around her know what is best for the baby.
I have a relative that became pregnant later in life and due to her own health concerns and the risk to her health her doctor told her to get an abortion. She found another doctor and her daughter will be turning 9 soon.
So another kid, from a parent with no way to provide for it, with a higher likelihood of being mentally incompetent (due to the mother's genes)-that the taxpayers will have to provide for, probably for life. Great choice right there, letting her give birth.
